Where the numbers come from

Every company and every dollar here is worked out from public filings. The US funds file their full holdings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission each quarter, on Form N-PORT, about two months after the quarter ends. Canadian funds don’t file there, so each is shown through the US funds that hold the same markets, at the mix it publishes.

Canadian funds

“Exact” means the fund holds one US fund and nothing else, so its holdings are that fund’s. “Estimated” means the fund holds the stocks itself, and we show them as a US fund that holds the same market does. Canada is the Canadian holdings of VEA (Vanguard FTSE Developed Markets), reweighted; developed markets outside North America are VEA’s other holdings. The mixes are rounded to whole percents and checked against what each fund publishes.

Prices and the exchange rate

Fractions of a share use each stock’s price on the holdings date, from the same filing. US dollars become Canadian at the Bank of Canada’s daily rate for that date (1.4029, Bank of Canada FXUSDCAD, 2026-07-31). We don’t show fund prices: the exchanges license them, so when you give units, you give their price too.

What we don’t use

The fund companies’ own holdings files and pages. Their terms allow personal, non-commercial use only, and we are not affiliated with any of them.
